(DA BAO) (TAKEOUT) (2012)
Centring around associations with the term "takeout" the exhibition and it's accompanying publication, both entitled (Da Bao) (Takeout), provide a meeting point for cultural exchange.
As Selena Yang notes in her introduction, "(Da Bao) (Takeout) brings together artists from China and Canada who have first-hand experience studying and living abroad. By placing them on the same platform, the exhibit promotes investigations that revolve around subjects of cultural identification, transformation of artistic concepts, similarities and differences in everyday life, and the influences and restrains of these two cultures on each other in art production."
Cathy Busby's experience traveling to and making work in China was included in this exhibition and publication along with a group photo taken in front of her work Jinkelong 2008, a large scale vinyl photograph created during her artist residency at Pickled Art Centre (Beijing, China) in 2008. Busby re-articulated this group photo against the Jinkelong 2008 backdrop, into it's own large scale vinyl image which then acted as a welcoming work within the (Da Bao) (Takeout) exhibition.
