PICKLED ART CENTRE OPENING (2012)
In 2012, the Varley Art Gallery in Markham, Ontario, installed an enlarged vinyl snapshot of the group of people who attended our opening at Pickled Art Centre, Beijing, in October of 2008. The group photo had been taken in front of Jinkelong 2008, one of two sign vinyl works that I fabricated in Beijing's Olympic year, and was later included in the group publication DA BAO (TAKEOUT). This work looked at the wrapping of food in the Jinkelong grocery store, and the presence of vinyl signage in the city. My artist book Your Choice is an accompaniment to these vinyl works and documents additional examples.
