INSPIRING (2014)

In 2014, Cathy Busby's INSPIRING (2010/2014) was readapted for the Faculty Exhibition at University of British Columbia's AHVA Gallery (Vancouver). This folder shows the taglines and their sources used in this subsequent iteration.

INSPIRING was first installed as a wall-text painting for the 2010 group exhibition Giving Notice: Words on Walls at Dalhousie Art Gallery (DAG) (Halifax).

This project was done in response to Dalhousie University’s ‘Inspiring Minds’ slogan. To create the painting, Cathy Busby collected taglines from six other universities and seven corporations which all contained a form of the word ‘inspiring' then matched these slogans with colours used in Benjamin Moore's 'Inspired by You' campaign. The taglines and their source companies are listed in it's accompanying folder.

Giving Notice: Words on Walls at DAG was curated by Peter Dykhuis and also included work by Brad Buckley, Garry Neill Kennedy, Gordon Lebredt, Micah Lexier & Christian Bök, and Lawrence Weiner.
