Exhibited in 2001 at Gallery 101 (Ottawa), How... follows Busby's interest in themes of pain, pain management and care culture. Working with materials on hand, Busby filled the exhibition space from floor to celling with prints scanned from the pages of mass-produced self-help books, revealing the marginalia left by anonymous readers. The 10 source books for the prints were also exhibited alongside the installation.
How... is part of Busby's larger body of work on pain which includes Self-Help Library (1994), Where Does It Hurt? (1996), Testdrive (2002), Self-Help Book Library (2014), and the collaborative anthology, When Pain Strikes (1999).
