ATTITUDES (2017)

"Temporary Jimmy Hendrix Shrine" is a page-work included in the class book, Attitudes, made during the Art History and Visual Arts (AHVA) course, Printed Matter, taught by Cathy Busby and Garry Neill Kennedy at the University of British Columbia in 2017.

This page-work centre's images of a collectables shop whose store front had been turned into a temporary shrine for Hendrix which Busby came across while walking on Seymour St. in downtown Vancouver. The act of stumbling across this impermanent memorial while wondering the city, along with the hand drawn, passionate aesthetic of the signage, reminded her of collecting posters in Halifax for her North End projects (2006-2007). This page-work extends from Busby's archive of temporary monument materials, pulling up brief but important moments in peoples lives.
