ART THAT MOVES YOU (1990)

ART THAT MOVES YOU (1990/2026) is a series of interviews with eight Halifax artists, including Catherine Pheonix, Bruce Johnson, Cathy Busby, Barbara Lounder, Robert Bean, John Brett, and Leighton Davis.

Throughout this intimately filmed work the artists talk about artworks which stuck with them overtime, such as Michelangelo's Pietà, Doris Lessing's Four-Gated City, Bill Viola's The Sleep of Reason, Barbra Lounder exhibition Sticks and Stones, a dance piece by Jo Lechay, Charlotte Salomon's Life? or Theatre?, and Donald Brittain's Never Backward Step.

Situated in Halifax, the artists note how the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, the Anna Leonowens Gallery and eyelevel gallery helped open them up to the possibilities of contemporary art by platforming a range of artistic mediums, including installation and dance.

ART THAT MOVES YOU was filmed by Cathy Busby in 1990 and completed 2026.
