SORRY (2003)
“Sorry” is a page work in RR 101, a Resource Room Projects publication produced by Gallery 101 (Ottawa) in 2003. This work was an important developmental stage for my SORRY series as the parameters of the publication encouraged me to hone in on the most important part of the public apology images I'd been collecting: the mouths.
In order to abide by publishing restrictions around reproducing media images, I could only use 10% of the source image. I decided that the mouths were the most important part of these photos which were taken at the time the apologies were being spoken to the public. This new intentional cropping worked perfectly within these constraints and created a more visceral affect which I liked and would carry on in later iterations of the work.
