ACQUIRED IN 1964 - silouettes (2015)

"Acquired in 1964" is a page-work made for the class book of the Art History and Visual Arts (AHVA) Printed Matter course taught by Cathy Busby and Garry Neill Kennedy at the University of British Columbia in 2015.

For this work Busby recreated the silhouettes she painted on the walls of the Confederation Center Art Gallery (CCAG) (Charlottetown, PEI) in 2014 for Cathy Busby: Acquired in 1964. This exhibition centred the collection the CCAG's first director, Moncrieff Williamson, acquired ahead of a royal visit from the Queen in 1964, sheding light on his acquisition choices and methodologies.
